Feature Request

For a fully onchain website served via ENS, we'd need to support data URI as content, not just pointers to content on IPFS, etc. Ideally this would also support specifying a contract to call to retrieve the data URI (similar to tokenURI of ERC-721).

Approve an array of ENS addresses that are available to an interface for fast name switching in applications where identity is important to the user.

Many TLDS are being leased to builders often with an option for the lessee to buy the domain at an agreed price within a set time. If we want to encourage development with ENS a leasing contract would be a great option for builders that don’t want to fork out a large wad to squatters. It could also result in extra income for the DAO if the DAO takes a small fee for managing the contract. Domain holder sets a leasing date now till 2028 domain.eth available for lease with cost x paid monthly/quarterly ect with a buy now price of y. The lessee is able to manage the domain without the option to sell or transfer. They make payments to an allocated address controlled by the contract which the owner can withdraw from. If they miss a payment, after a short period the contract is broken and the owner is able to find a new lessee.

Add a permissionless "Referral/Affiliate Marketing" system, which still requires the normal $5/year per 5-char name, but will send 10% of the sale to the last referred ENS/0x-address (in the users local referral-cookie); ...which will help code/app and content creators in the permissionless Web3 economy. Reduce registration fees for 3 & 4 character ENS, such as $160/year for 3-character, $40/year for 4-character

Can we please have ENS be resolvable and supported on Layer2s like: Arbitrum One Optimism Base zkSync Era Starknet (I know there was a forum post on this in December and based on the proposed timeline it should've been completed months ago yet there was no update that I could find https://discuss.ens.domains/t/ccip-implementation-for-ens-on-starknet/15691 ) Polygon zkEVM And preferably add new ones as soon as they networks aim to onboard people. I'll leave this for the judgement to more knowledgeable people as I'm unsure how it impacts the safety. This ENS layer 2 support seems like the most useful feature to add as I keep being asked my OGs or people who have been in the space for years and how come something as useful as that isn't live yet.
